[Vanuatu] Yasur Volcano in Tanna Island

台灣有火山,但不是像萬那杜 Tanna Island 上這樣這麼活躍的火山

There're extinct and dormant volcanoes in Taiwan. In Vanuatu, there're many active volcanoes.

去萬那杜前,我們在北邊因潛水有名的 Santo Island 與南邊因火山有名的 Tanna Island 中做取捨,後來決定去 Tanna

Before going to Vanuatu, we had to choose Santo Island which is famous for scuba diving or Tanna Island which is known of volcanoes for our trip. We decided to travel in Tanna.

拜訪火山也並非容易,首先,搭乘超小飛機從主要島嶼 Efate 到南邊大島 Tanna

It's not easy to visit the volcano. First, we took a "tiny" plane from Efate (the mainland) to Tanna, south from Efate.

在崎嶇不平的路面上顛簸應該兩個小時左右才終於看到猛噴火山灰的Yasur Volcano

To see Yasur Volcano, it took us another two hours from our resort and the road was bumpiness.

為避免意外,我們被要求要穿上長袖長褲以及包鞋

We were asked to wear long shirts, pants and shoes to avoid any accident.

看著火山灰不停冒出來並發出聲響,同行的人們都不禁驚呼

Everyone was "scared" because of the active volcanic activity.

今年初有一本書在台灣出版,叫做「探尋即將消失的國度:兩個七年級女生的環浪計畫」

Two Taiwanese girls accrossed the South Pacific Ocean and then published a book in January this year.

連呼吸都覺得重要的地方,她們這樣形容萬那杜

They said, "breathing is even the most important of Vanuatuans' life."

火山爆發時揚起的灰塵,導致在萬那杜的許多外島裡,都有人因為這樣的特殊地理環境,而有呼吸道的疾病或者飲用水的問題

The ash after the volcanoes exploded made Vanuatuans sick in many ways. They had respiratory disease
. Moreover, they can't drink the water directly because of the volcanic ash as well.

書中還提到許多氣候變遷的問題,海平面上升導致島嶼慢慢消失

They talked about the proplems of Climatic Change in the book. Sea level's rising up results in islands' disappearing.

台灣也有類似的問題,但,我們該怎麼面對它,處理它呢?

There's the similar problem happening in Taiwan. How should we face it? What should we do?
